Hi there. Quick one for you today.
Par levels sound simple until you sit down to set them. Here's a straightforward way to do it—no overthinking.
Par levels (sometimes called reorder points) tell you when to restock ingredients before you run out. Below is how to set them up in BrewLedger.
Individual vs Global Par Levels
BrewLedger supports two types of par levels:
Individual (Per-Location)
Set a minimum quantity for each item at a specific location. For example, you might want to keep at least 50 lbs of base malt in your brewhouse at all times.
Use when: You care about having stock in a specific place (e.g., grain room vs. cold storage).
Global (Total Across All Locations)
Set a minimum for the total quantity of an item across all locations. For example, you want at least 200 lbs of hops total, regardless of where it's stored.
Use when: You just need to know when to order more, and you'll sort out storage later.
Setting Par Levels
- Go to Reorder (mobile) or Par Levels (console).
- Select your scope: Global or a specific location.
- Enter minimum quantities for each item.
- Save—low stock alerts will appear on your dashboard when levels fall below par.
Tips
- Start with your most critical ingredients.
- Review par levels seasonally; usage patterns change.
- Use global pars for items you store in multiple places.
