Chesterland, Ohio sits in Geauga County, about 25 miles east of Cleveland. It's a bedroom community with a growing craft beer scene—and in the last few years, the area has gained several breweries worth visiting. Whether you're a local looking for a new taproom or a visitor passing through, here's a guide to the best breweries in and around Chesterland.
In Chesterland
Purpose Brew Works
8737 Mayfield Road, Chesterland, OH 44026
Chesterland's first full-scale craft brewery opened in fall 2025. Purpose Brew Works was founded by Terry Nagy and Scott Hemrock, who met at a local homebrew club and turned their passion into a brick-and-mortar operation. The brewery occupies a 4,500-square-foot space with a five-barrel brewhouse, taproom, kitchen, fireplace, and outdoor deck.
Purpose Brew Works specializes in European-inspired beers—Märzen was among the first beers in the tanks at opening. The taproom serves 12–14 house-made beers alongside a full kitchen menu, so you can pair beer with food without relying on food trucks. Hours: Wednesday–Friday 3–10 p.m., Saturday noon–10 p.m., Sunday noon–5 p.m. The brewery is a member of the Ohio Craft Brewers Association.
Red, Wine & Brew – Chesterland
8099 Mayfield Road, Chesterland, OH 44026
Red, Wine & Brew is a Collision Bend Brewing Company retail location—not a brewery itself, but a craft beer and wine shop where you can pick up Collision Bend beers and other local offerings. Open Monday–Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. (closed weekends). If you're stocking up for the weekend or want to grab Crowlers to go, it's a convenient stop on Mayfield Road.
Chagrin Falls (About 6 Miles South)
Chagrin Falls is a short drive from Chesterland and has one of the densest brewery clusters in Geauga County. Four breweries sit within a few miles of each other, and all four participate in the Cleveland Brewery Passport—Destination Cleveland's digital program that rewards visits to 42 breweries across 50 locations.

Crooked Pecker Brewing Company is owned and operated by the Stewart family—Scott, Karen, Erik, and Heather. The taproom is open Wednesday–Friday 3–10 p.m., Saturday noon–10 p.m., Sunday noon–8 p.m. A good stop for a Chagrin Falls brewery crawl—you can hit all four in an afternoon if you pace yourself.
Chardon (About 11 Miles Northeast)
Eleventhree Brewing
211 Cherry Avenue, Chardon, OH 44024
Eleventhree Brewing is Chardon's only craft brewery and taproom, located half a mile from historic Chardon Square. Founded by Dave and Chelsea Wickman, the brewery opened in June 2023. The name reflects both owners' shared jersey number 11 from their athletic days, plus the number 3 for their three children.
Eleventhree specializes in modern craft beer styles: New England-style IPAs, fruited sours, pastry stouts, and craft lagers. The taproom also serves authentic Neapolitan pizza made in a 500°C oven with San Marzano DOP tomatoes and Fior di Latte cheese. The space features a retro European-style flip-board menu, outdoor seating, and is kid-friendly and dog-friendly on the patio. Hours: Wednesday–Thursday 4–9 p.m., Friday 4–10 p.m., Saturday noon–10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Ohio Craft Brewers Association.
Geneva (About 20 Miles East)
Darkroom Brewing Company
32 North Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041
Darkroom Brewing Company is a microbrewery in historic downtown Geneva, housed in a former photography studio dating back to around 1900—hence the name. Owners Amanda Briggs de Lavini and Gino Lavini brew on a five-barrel system and offer house-made IPAs, stouts, ales, and seltzers, plus guest taps, wine, and spirits.
The 5,000-square-foot space includes a taproom, food truck area, and private event space. Creative touches—murals, paintings, plants, vintage cameras—give the room a distinctive feel. Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 2–8 p.m., Friday–Saturday noon–10 p.m., Sunday noon–8 p.m. (closed Wednesday). Visit Ashtabula County lists Darkroom among the region's breweries and distilleries; Geneva sits in Ashtabula County's wine country, so a trip east can easily pair a brewery stop with winery visits.
The Cleveland Brewery Passport
If you're planning to explore multiple breweries, the Cleveland Brewery Passport is worth downloading. The 2026 program features 42 breweries across 50 locations within 30 miles of downtown Cleveland. Participants check in via the Destination Cleveland app after making a purchase at each brewery. Prize tiers include a sticker at one check-in, a ball cap and bottle opener at six, a mini cooler or winter hat at 15, a T-shirt at 30, and a pennant and completion token at 42.
Four of the breweries in this guide—8th Day, Pompatus, Bummin' Beaver, and Crooked Pecker—are on the passport. Purpose Brew Works and Eleventhree are newer additions to the scene and may join in future years. Darkroom, in Geneva, sits in Ashtabula County and is outside the passport's geographic scope, but it's still a strong destination for a day trip east.
Planning Your Visit
Chesterland and the surrounding towns form a compact craft beer corridor. From Chesterland, you can reach Chagrin Falls in about 15 minutes, Chardon in about 20, and Geneva in about 30. A Saturday could start at Purpose Brew Works for lunch, move to Chagrin Falls for an afternoon crawl across the four passport breweries, and end at Eleventhree for pizza and a pint—or head east to Geneva for a different vibe.
Always confirm hours and offerings before you go; tap lists and events change. Drink responsibly and use a designated driver.
